After Nana’s passing in February we uncovered her recipe collection. What a treasure! It’s stored in a Campbell’s Soup recipe tin — is that perfect or what? (See image.)
Nana meticulously filed these handwritten and typed 3x5 cards by category. It seems overwhelming, but we vow to go through this collection and bring new recipes to the site. In addition, we’ll be able to add more handwritten recipe images to current recipes.
I learned something new thumbing through the collection. One of Nana’s signature recipes, “Nerds,” is actually spelled “Nurds” on the original recipe. (Check out the larger image of the recipe.) The derivation of the name has always been a mystery — something I suspect I’ll investigate and report on in a future edition of “What’s Cooking!”

Recipe Measurement Conversion
Nana welcomes visitors from around the world. By default, we use measurement standards from the United States, but our Measurement Conversion page makes it easy to convert to worldwide standards.
Nana’s Recipes passed the milestone of 7,000 Facebook "likes." That's about 1,000 new likes in 3 months, not bad for a little vintage recipe site. Please share how you found us, post your story on our Facebook page.
Stay up to date with new additions to Nana's Recipes by adding your e-mail address to the quarterly "What's Cooking" newsletter mailing list. I promise never to share your address with anyone.
We have a total of 286 recipes on the site. The Recipe Index alphabetically lists each recipe for easy access.
