Date Layer Bars: With an Apple Twist!

Nana's youngest daughter, Cindi, recently experimented with her mom's Date Layer Bars, and invented a new variation. Cindi re-imagined the tasty treats with apple filling, instead of dates.

The only major change to the recipe was using un-peeled apples instead of dates. A minor change included use of the optional butter, instead of shortening. Cindi chose to use a glass baking dish which lowers the baking temperature from 350° to 325° Fahrenheit (temperature conversion calculator).

The result was a beautiful, golden brown treat with all the wonderful flavor of the original recipe, with an apple twist. Give this recipe a try soon.
