A Message of Inclusion



Here at Nana's Recipes, we usually avoid bringing social issues into our little vintage recipe site. Sadly, it's impossible — and utterly irresponsible — to ignore the worldwide call for social justice and inclusion.

We know from Facebook "likes" data, and web server logs, that a significant number of our visitors don't speak English and don't live in the Earth's Northern Hemisphere, like we do. Based on that realization, we have done a few things to make our website more inclusive.

New Translation Feature

On all recipe pages, we've implemented the Google Translate service. Visitors choose from over 100 different languages from Albanian to Zulu. It turns out that Spanish, French and Arabic are the top languages spoken by visitors, other than our native English.

Cease References to Seasons

We have stopped the practice of naming our "What's Cooking" updates with the current season in the Northern Hemisphere. A significant number of our visitors live in Australia, India and South Africa where their summer is our winter, and vice versa. We'll continue to publish an update quarterly, which means once every 3 months for a total of four times per year:

1st Quarter (January)
2nd Quarter (April)
3rd Quarter (July)
4th Quarter (October)

Measurement Conversion

Nana welcomes visitors from around the world. By default, we use measurement standards from the United States, but our Measurement Conversion page makes it easy to convert to worldwide standards.
