A Tribute to Harriet Spence

One of Nana’s Recipes first contributors was Nana's beloved sister-in-law Harriet Spence. Harriet and Nana shared a close relationship throughout their lives. Sadly, Harriet passed away in November, but she is now reunited in heaven with Nana, who died in February.

In this edition of “What’s Cooking” we feature four of Harriet’s recipes (three with images below) that represent simple, home-cooked dishes that take comfort food to the next level. Additionally, these recipes won't hurt your wallet — something that Harriet appreciated.

Since images of Harriet’s recipes were captured in 1999, the quality is not quite up to current standards. Hopefully we can update some of the pictures in the future and add an image for Harriet's Sour Cream Mashed Potato recipe.

Nana's original "Welcome Message" was recorded, and added to the website, in 2000. The message was re-recorded in 2010 — with a few more grandchildren and better audio quality! It's wonderful to hear her voice.
