Taco Soup

At our home in Northern California, the days turn brisk this time of year. In this edition, we’re revisiting an old favorite recipe with a fresh perspective — and a new name — designed to keep the chill at bay: Taco Soup.

This recipe from Jackie Spencer was first added in the Fall of 2006. Originally we called it “Bean Soup,” but now we realize that name didn't capture its true character.

Choose any of these garnishes for even more flavor: tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, salsa, sour cream, flour tortillas, or cornbread (a favorite of Nana's daughter-in-law). This soup delivers all the flavor of a taco, and also chases away the season's chill.
